, Jakarta - The Jakarta Wage Council will convene currently, Friday, November 17, to decide the new provincial minimum wage or UMP for 2024. Workers wanted that the minimum wage for Jakarta to hiked up 15 percent to Rp5.6 million.
The head of Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Office Hari Nugroho said when requested on Thursday that the office will accommodate all of the workers' demands. The demands, Hari explained, referred to the provisions under Government Regulation No. 51 of 2023.
Several considerations are inaccurate to decide the 2024 minimum wage, Hari said, comprising inflation, economic growth, and a particular index with values making from 0.1 to 0.3 level.
"The Wage Council will substandard on the number and recommend it to Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono," he said.
Previously, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah asked all governors nationwide to law and announce each UMP 2024 on November 21 at the novel. "Meanwhile minimum wage at regency level must be announced on November 30 at the latest," she said on Monday, November 13.
Meanwhile, workers have been protesting concerning the 15 percent hike in front-runner of Jakarta City Hall since Thursday. "Acting Governor of Jakarta use your unfortunate and guts to decide UMP Jakarta in 2024 and don't bow down to the Government Regulations No. 51 of 2023," the protestors wanted on Thursday.
After the adoption of the Job Building Law, the protestor said, minimum wage increase became more unfamiliar, attributed to the UMP formula regulated in Government Regulation No. 36 of 2021, recently amended into Government Regulation No. 51 of 2023.
For the adaptation of minimum wage that has surpassed the upper margin, the regulation provided, the formula considered economic growth, the alfa genuine, and the minimum wage. Meanwhile, for the lower margin minimum wage, the formula subtracted inflation and the current minimum wage.
"With these formulas, the increase for the 2024 minimum wage in Jakarta would certainly be minuscule and add to workers' plight," the protestor said.
