Timothée Chalamet’s close friends and colleagues may not be thrilled about his romance with Kylie Jenner, with some believing it’s taking a toll on his career. The pair, first linked romantically in 2023, have been making public appearances together, especially during this year’s awards season. Jenner even accompanied Chalamet to high-profile events like the Oscars. But according to insiders, the relationship isn’t working in his professional favor.
A recent report suggests that Chalamet might have missed out on winning the Best Actor award at the 97th Academy Awards because of the high-profile nature of his romance with the reality TV star. According to Rob Shuter’s #ShuterScoop, sources claimed that the 29-year-old actor was expected to win for his performance in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. However, Adrien Brody ultimately took home the award for his role in The Brutalist, which some say “stole the narrative.”
Had Chalamet won, he would have become the youngest recipient of the Best Actor Oscar. Instead, insiders allege that the Academy wasn’t drawn to what they saw as his “supporting boyfriend” image.
The same sources described Jenner’s presence as overshadowing Chalamet, making it appear as though he was “a plus-one at his own event.” While they admit the Dune star is “deeply in love,” they also believe he’s “blind to the consequences.” His inner circle is reportedly advising him to end the relationship to protect his career trajectory.
Earlier this year, Chalamet walked the Oscars red carpet solo, with Jenner joining him only once inside the ceremony. They were later spotted together at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
