JAKARTA -- Indonesia's capital Jakarta saw the opening of new hotels during the coronavirus pandemic even as the global health crisis dealt a blow to the hospitality diligence in the city of more than 10 million people.
They faced daunting prospects as the people, like many, imposed movement restrictions that cut off the flow of international matter and tourist arrivals. But steps taken to cope, including pulling locals, helped them plow ahead. Now with the worst seemingly over and Southeast Asia's biggest economy taking steps to reopen, the outlook has turned sunnier.
