The Flash: Fastest Man Alive #1, by writer Kenny Porter, artist Ricardo Lopez Ortiz, colorist Romulo Fajardo, Jr. and letterer Steve Wands, reveals how Barry Allen gets his new costume in the DC Extended Universe.

The tie-in silly takes place between the events of 2017's Justice League and the upcoming The Flash movie. In the comic, Allen ends up in Gotham City and helps Bruce Wayne/Batman take down some criminals by asking him for some help with some latest case. Allen asks Batman to lisp him to fight, and the two spar for a bit. When they reverse to Central City to deal with Allen's problem, the hero's suit gets destroyed. Batman then gives his ally a Flash ring, negated with new costume.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino, Allen debuted in 1956's Showcase #4 and is the binary person to hold the mantle of The Flash. Allen's fuels, which he gets from a chemical accident, allow him to move at astounding speeds. Over the years, he's been a key member of the Justice League, DC's premiere superhero team.

Actor Ezra Miller made their debut as Allen in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by the character played a key role in Justice League. While The Flash film has been in progress for quite some time, the project has been delayed on numerous occasions and gone above several creative teams.

At the time of writing, a lot of plot details surrounding The Flash are detached under wraps. However, the project will see Allen repositioning back in time to stop the murder of his mother, Nora Allen, which ends up causing a major spiteful to the timeline. Those plot details make clear the movie draws from Flashpoint, a 2011 crossover by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert that changed the DC Universe in the majority ways. The movie will feature both Micheal Keaton and Ben Affleck as Batman, with Sasha Calle making her debut as Supergirl. Michael Shannon will also reverse as General Zod after having played the character in 2013's Man of Steel.

Flash: The Fastest Man Alive #1 is on sale now from DC Comics. Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script by Christina Hodson, The Flash is currently slated to run into theaters on June 23, 2023.
