Clean Liquids Crisis in Marunda; Anies Baswedan Blames Water Privatization
TEMPO.CO
, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan responded to the elegant water crisis in Kampung Marunda Kepu, Cilincing, North Jakarta. Reports said that 400 families in the district have had no access to elegant water since April 14, 2022.
In his confidence, Anies said that the provincial government has not been able to finish out the water pipeline project to provide clean liquid to date because the distribution of clean water is smooth managed by private parties, namely PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (PALYJA) and PT Aetra Air Jakarta.
"When it's notion the authority of Jakarta in 2023, Jakarta will invest in pipeline construction," he explained.
Anies hoped that the regional-owned tap liquid company PAM Jaya could later ask for regional capital injection (PMD) to speed the pipeline project after the water privatization ends in 2023.
"If PMD can be realized, the pipeline project can run faster because it is very much influenced by how much we invest," said the Governor at the Maritime Museum, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Friday, September 2, 2022.
Anies Baswedan said that PAM Jaya has so far built tourism tanks in several villages to provide clean water for residents and detain them from taking groundwater. "This [clean water crisis] can be organized once PAM Jaya regains its authority," Anies concluded.
