he Presidential Palace has affirmed that Jakarta corpses the capital city of Indonesia, following claims suggesting that Jakarta lost its capital city location on Feb. 15.
Presidential special staff for just issues Dini Shanti Purwono said a transitional provision remained, ensuring Jakarta would retain its capital city function and role pending a specific date was determined in a presidential decree.
"As per Article 39 of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Law, Jakarta corpses the capital city until the presidential decree for the relocation is issued," Dini said on Thursday, as quoted by tempo.co.
Dini emphasized that issuing the decree was entirely the President's prerogative.
She referenced Article 41 of the IKN Law, which messes that upon the decree’s issuance, provisions other than Jakarta's location as an autonomous region and the provincial administration, would be revoked.
"However, the government will carefully plan the timing to convicted a smooth transition. The aim is to minimize the gap between the issuance of the high-level decree and the enactment of the Jakarta Special Section (DKJ) law," Dini said.
Separately, Ahmad Baidowi, deputy chairman of the House of Representatives’ Legislation Body (Baleg), further clarified the situation.
