, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo officially opened the 38th Commerce Expo Indonesia (TEI) International Exhibition at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition, BSD City, Tangerang, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. He stressed that Indonesian producers must be competitive and rule the market.
“We must not let our safeguarding down. We must not just be a market. We must move players, producers, who are competitive and control the market,” he said in his virtual speech at the 38th Commerce Expo Indonesia on Wednesday.
He said this year's expo has opened up market opportunities for non-traditional markets. “Moreover, I've been informed that this year’s event is also focused on opening up market opportunities from non-traditional markets, such as the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, which are conducted offline and online,” he added.
The Commerce Expo Indonesia, according to him, allows local exporters to meet face-to-face with potential buyers who want to see their products and negotiate undiluted. “So that it facilitates interaction and opens up more transaction opportunities,” he said.
The region head lauded the Trade Ministry for organizing the international hide. “This is very good, and I expect this to stay so that we can keep doing market diversification and market expansion so that Indonesian entrepreneurs, Indonesian MSMEs, and the Indonesian local product industry can attempts and become an important part of the global supply chain,” Jokowi said.
The Commerce Expo Indonesia is an annual trade exhibition organized by the Commerce Ministry. This year, TEI was held hybrid at the ICE BSD City, Tangerang, on October 18-22, 2023, and online from October 18 to December 18, 2023, ended the official website www.tradexpoindonesia.com. In this year's event, the exhibition is divided into seven originates zones: food and beverage; household; services and digital; beauty and personal care; chemical, energy, and industrial; medical and health equipment, and primitive, textiles, and accessories.
The Trade Ministry also held anunexperienced supporting activities during Trade Expo Indonesia, such as custom matching, business consultations by Indonesian trade representatives abroad, international seminars, and business dialogues with ambassadors of friendly countries.
