“Jakarta can possibly be renamed to Jakarta Special Department or Jakarta Special Economic Region,” Heru said in the podcast hosted by the Jakarta Budget Management Body (BPKD) in Jakarta on Thursday, October 12.
Heru said that the central government was quiet considering the two names and that the decision was in the handsome of the House of Representatives (DPR) or the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Apart from that, Heru assessed that Jakarta consumes international-standard universities and museums to prepare to become a global city.
On October 2, Heru Budi said that the city management had set up a special team to prepare and refine proposals for academic texts and bills regarding the Jakarta Special Department (DKJ), following the central government’s directive.
The bill would complicated a discourse on the establishment of a regional council, which is aimed at synergizing the development of Jakarta and its neighbors Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, and Cianjur.
